2016, YEAR OF THE NEXT LEVEL
VISION 1000
MARCH, MONTH OF GLORY
CALL TO GLORY
2Peter 1.3
INTRODUCTION
Attention
“Call to Glory” as an inscription is associated with obituaries. It clearly shows that people expect glory to be on the other side of life. Should there not be glory on this side? As a Christian, how beautiful and attractive is your life? What is beautiful, attractive and exceptional about your life? There should be.
Problem
Worship of God seems to be an excuse for not being ahead and having a great life. Even when it is not, there is often no difference between the believer and the unbeliever. The Bible says there should be, Mal. 3.18.
Orientation
The believer is intended to live a glorious life here on earth. His life should be more glorious than that of the unbeliever. He should desire that estate.
Purpose
To challenge believers to pursue living a glorious life here on earth.
1. The Christian life is supposed to be a life of glory.
a. Our calling is unto glory.
b. God wants us glorified. He is glorious and wants to share in it, Eph. 2.6. We are to reflect His glory.
c. God wants to be glorified in us, 2Thess. 1.12
2. We often don’t reflect any glory.
a. The glory we claim is never seen on us.
b. We seem to limit the glory talk to the spiritual dimension.
c. We talk about the glory as something to happen bye and bye.
d. There are two phases of this glory. There is the one for right now and there is the one for eternity. This glory is both in this life and in the next, Mk. 10.28-30.
e. The glory is earthy, Is. 6.3. The devil showed Jesus that, Matt. 4.8. Is. 61.
3. The nature of the glory
a. It means high honour won by notable achievements; fame, distinction, celebrity, praise, recognition, reputation, name, greatness, etc. Opposite includes obscurity.
b. The glory should attract unbelievers.
c. It should be something they seek, Is. 61.1ff; Matt. 6.31-33. If we are seeking God right, all this things shall be added else we aren’t.
d. It is the kind Solomon had, Matt. 6.29: wealth, brilliance, wisdom, promotion, etc.
4. We should check for glory in our lives.
a. We often refrain from doing such exercise either for not having anything glorious about us or for not a mistaken sense of humility.
b. There should be something glorious about you that makes the world desire you?
c. Mention what those are and if there aren’t, you have to set a goal in that direction.
d. Job paints a picture of his glorious life, Job 29.1ff. He shows that relationship with God should make life glorious.
i. He tells of his relationship with God, 1-5.
ii. He tells of the glory he had, 6, 7
iii. He tells of the effect it had in the society, 8-11, 21-15
iv. He tells what he used to glory to accomplish, 12, 13, 15-17
v. He shows the glory does not have to be at the expense of righteousness, 14
vi. He shows the glory came with peace, 18-20
CONCLUSION
Manifestation of glory should describe our lives. Next week, I will begin to show why the glory does not show in our lives.
